Managing Your Workload

An important step in managing your course load happens very early, typically at the very beginning. This is usually when the course outline will be handed out and explained, and it often tells you how you are going to be assessed. This will let you determine how much time you will need to spend studying, writing papers, and so on. You should think about this carefully to decide how much time you will have left for other activities: other classes, hobbies, or work.  If you take on too much, it will before impossible to do well. Sometimes you can do courses at later times, and this can help you balance your work. Other times you may simply have to set priorities and do less overall. The main idea is that if you take on too much work, you may fail at all of it: successful management means only doing the amount of work you can do successfully.

How do you manage your workload?

I try to plan a schedule that shows the amount of time I will allocate to each course each week. But don’t forget to relax and unwind from all that studying and working on assignments!

regardless whether i’m volunteering in the semester, i always give most of my time and attention to study and for sure some time to socialize with people. for other activities, i would postpone it to summer

Keeping a calendar and sticking to deadlines is key.

First: Plan ahead how I want to finish the work.
Second: During stress or have no idea, go out and do some exercise like playing football, swimming and etc
    Third: Ask help!

Ideally, I allocate a portion of my time towards studying, and divide it among courses on the basis of their difficulty. For extracurriculars, I take these into consideration if I am done my important tasks.

a good way to manage your workload is to schedule your study times and plan ahead, what you plan to get done by a certain date.

The best is just to know everything that needs to get done from the earliest time possible so there are no surprises and you can budget your time appropriately.

i manage my work load by simply assessing what i know and making an estimate as to how long it will take to complete the task. i give myself the estimated amount of time to complete the task and leave myself a day after that to look it over and hand it in. it seems to work everytime.

just like others who have replied — I also manage my workload incrementally.

I try to finish the work first during school and/or lunch, get done by the end of the day, then you can enjoy the night off.

The most important thing is to put things according to priority, and know your limits. Put most effort on the most prior things.

Depends. Ideally… do as much as possible as soon as possible… but that often does not happen alas.

I take as much as I can and cry about it later.

I manage my workload by always reviewing what I have to do before the next week arrives. If I know that I will have more activities one week, I consider how much work I will have to do ahead of time so that when the week arrives, I will not be overloaded with work.

Its very important to know your limits when you get to college. You really need to know when its time to stop taking on new tasks

  24. Comment by cwtlab422 on December 6, 2013 at 3:21 pm

I manage my workload by first organizing what I should do in priority, then break up large tasks into smaller ones.

Do it graduately than just cramming for everything

  26. Comment by cwtlab433 on December 9, 2013 at 12:47 pm

    Time yourself properly

It helps to have a calendar, and to budget time. That includes not only breaking studying down into manageable tasks, but managing outside tasks. It helps if you also schedule non-study fun time, so you are able to concentrate on studying while you are doing that.

I like to make a list of what I need to accomlish, and than prioritize.

  29. Comment by cwtlab430 on December 9, 2013 at 2:56 pm

I make a list on a white board and as I finish them I get to wipe them off and it makes me feel accomplished.

  30. Comment by cwtlab437 on December 9, 2013 at 3:26 pm

I make a list everyday. I try to do the tasks that take longer or are harder first. I have a goal in mind that if I get something done that I don’t want to do, I reward myself.

Make sure you keep up with your work, it’s hard to get ahead once you fall behind.

I do a lot more online based work, plus school so most of m time is head down in a book or head up on a PC, this being said I tend to relax while doing so by playing a game or watching a YouTube video.
